The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
The Office of the State Treasurer is recruiting for an Information Technology Professional III to underfill an Information Technology (IT) Professional IV. The position will report directly to the Chief Deputy. This position is responsible for maintaining the Treasurer's Office technology infrastructure; will serve as project leader on Treasurer's Office projects with IT components, including planning, organizing, and directing project activities, as necessary; and serve as a liaison to vendor technical personnel. Incumbents will be required to perform duties in more than one IT specialization area. This person should be a self-starter, proactive and work independently.
The position is responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the IT activities of the office, including developing, maintaining and enforcing operational standards, capacity planning, inventory control, desktop support, and infrastructure maintenance and support; prepares technical documentation; reviews requests for proposals which involve IT components; provides project management; and participates in state IT committees. Requires fulfilling the role of the Office's ISO (information security officer) including regular reviews of and insuring compliance with multiple Nevada Revised Statutes that pertain to IT security. The ideal candidate will have experience with computer operations, such as direct help desk support, and database administration, such as configuring database, tuning performance, and data integrity, including the back-up and recovery of the database, and IT project management, such as acting as an intermediary between subject matter experts (SMEs) and vendors to resolve design conflicts, draft optimal timelines, and oversee data migration and administration. In addition, this position will work with the IT Professional III to maintain the Treasurer's Office technology infrastructure; be involved with troubleshooting, monitor the Help-Desk environment with application related issues, provide technical support to end users, serve as a liaison to vendor technical personnel, and configure and install operating systems. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Nevada Information Security Professional (NISP) or CISSP certification must be obtained within 12 months of appointment and maintained as a condition of continuing employment.

    This position requires travel up to 25% of the time.
