Contributions Examiners are responsible for the accurate registration of liable employers for unemployment insurance, reporting and collection of federally and State mandated unemployment taxes and State mandated employment taxes, and determination of liability of employers' tax liability dates, tax rates, and eligible years of experience rates.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
This recruitment is for both permanent and intermittent Contributions Examiner 1 positions in the Contributions Registration Unit. This position is an underfill of a Contributions Examiner 2 position. The incumbent will progress to the next level upon meeting the minimum qualifications of the Examiner 2 position and with approval of the appointing authority. This position may be required to work weekends or hours outside of the traditional 8:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule. The Registration Examiner assists employers and payroll companies to determine employer's liability for Unemployment Insurance compensation and assists employers to establish an account through a Nevada Business Registration form and ESS. The position reviews, analyzes and processes account maintenance information, including, but not limited to, address changes, account status and ownership information; determines employer's subjectivity to mandatory rate transfers; and assists with Mass Mail duties by researching and verifying for accuracy quarterly contributions and wage reports. Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of bookkeeping or collections experience involving the interpretation and application of rules, regulations and laws; OR two years of experience which included contact with the public to explain procedures and elicit facts, make determinations and verify financial information, compose reports and correspondence, make basic mathematical calculations, and interpret written materials; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
