The Position
Positions in this series provide care, training, and treatment to children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a 24-hour/7-day a week treatment home setting.
Incumbents supervise and evaluate the performance of lower level professionals and support staff, schedule and assign work, and provide training and coaching. The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for multiple Treatment Home Supervisor (THS) positions at our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities (PRTF)- Oasis facility located in Las Vegas. PRTF-Oasis is a staff secure residential facility comprised of five treatment homes located at the West Neighborhood Family Service Center. These positions report to the Mental Health Counselor III. Supervisors are responsible for the daily operations of the home they are assigned and serve as back up to other THS's. THS's provide oversight of the daily operations of their assigned treatment home ensuring adequate staff to client coverage, compliance with treatment model implementation, coaching and training of staff and all issues and tasks related to the functioning of the home. THS's will ensure that parents are involved with the program encouraging them to work with their child and treatment home staff in order to learn how to better manage their child's behaviors and mental health needs at home; facilitate groups that will focus on aggression replacement training, interaction and problem solving, and empowerment skills; and are responsible for completing the admission process with youth entering their home and works to coordinate the care and services under direction of the Mental Health Counselor to update treatment plans, write 30/60/90 day progress reports, and discharge summaries.
These positions require working a variable work schedule to alter their hours and flex their time in order to provide supervision/coaching/monitoring of staff who work other shifts than the supervisor. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, child development, psychology, counseling, social work, or closely related field and two years of experience in the care, training, and/or treatment of children or adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience above the bachelor's degree level.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    Working on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    As a condition of employment, pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety.  Persons offered employment in this position must first submit to a pre-employment screening test for controlled substances.
The Examination
TREATMENT HOME SUPERVISOR (10.146) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

Those applicants deemed amongst the most qualified will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
1) Describe your experience, including number of years and where the experience was gained, implementing behavior modification techniques, and teaching, training and providing treatment for behaviorally and emotionally disturbed children or adolescents in a mental health setting.
2) Describe your experience, including number of years and where the experience was gained, implementing the Boys Town Psycho-educational Model. If your experience is with a different model, please state the name of the model and explain.
3) Do you have a Master's in Social or Behavioral Science and experience providing individual and/or group counseling to emotionally/behaviorally disturbed youth in a mental health setting? If yes, you must make sure your education is listed under the education tab and describe your experience in detail being sure to include where and when this experience was gained.
4) Please describe your experience, including number of years and where the experience was gained, training and supervising staff involved in providing care and treatment to children and adolescents.
5) Do you have current Crisis Prevention and Response (CPAR) certification? If yes, you must attach your certification to your application to receive credit.
