The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION

Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) has a position for a Maintenance Repair Worker III at the Desert Willow Treatment Center (DWTC) a 32-bed staff secure facility for male and female youth age 12 to 18. The DWTC goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking for youth. Under the direction of the Facility Supervisor II the incumbent will plan, layout, and perform repairs and maintenance activities for multiple DCFS buildings in Las Vegas and work closely with Contractors, vendors, and suppliers to assure that jobs are done in a proper and timely manner.
This position requires routine inspections of the various DCFS buildings and performing required repairs and preventative maintenance as required to the highest of standards. The position routinely involves making repairs to items such as electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, painting, drywall, floor repairs, security cameras, boilers, re-keying and other building related maintenance items. The position is also responsible for performing life safety drills along with performing meticulous record keeping. Working overtime is required.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Two years of experience performing semi-skilled work in a relevant building and/or mechanical trade; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
This position requires working weekends and holidays.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
