Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Mid-Level Medical Practitioners may be either Advanced Practice Registered Nurses or Physician Assistants who
provide medical care. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Mid-Level Medical Practitioner is for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) qualified to provide Psychiatric Care in a psychiatric setting and will perform advanced-level work; may provide work direction and training to others. This position is located at Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services in Sparks. The incumbent provides assessment and treatment in a psychiatric setting; assesses mental health status and manages the mental health care of consumers in an outpatient setting; completes psychiatric assessments, performs examinations and develops diagnoses to initiate a program of treatment. The incumbent prescribes psychiatric medications, monitors patients for medication side effects, and adjusts the medication regime as needed. The incumbent also maintains accurate records documenting all findings, diagnoses, and treatments, including medications and changes in status in the electronic medical record. In this role, incumbents provide education and counseling to patients and their families to promote positive mental health habits. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other mental health professional in a fast pace environment. Current licensure by the Nevada State Board of Nursing as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse with experience in a psychiatric setting is requried. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Licensure by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners or certification by the Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine as a Physician Assistant; OR certification of recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
Special Requirements
Current certification of registration or license to prescribe from the Nevada Board of Pharmacy is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Licensure to prescribe controlled substances from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Certification or licensure to dispense controlled substances, poisons, dangerous drugs and devices from the Nevada State Board of Nursing and Nevada Board of Pharmacy is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or Basic Life Support is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this series must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Current licensure by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners as a Physician Assistant; licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Out-of-state applicants must have temporary licensure issued by the Nevada State Board of Medical
Examiners as a Physician Assistant at the time of appointment; or temporary licensure as an Advanced
Practice Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing at the time of appointment. Full
licensure issued by the appropriate Board must be obtained within Board-specified timelines as a condition
of continuing employment.
