The Position
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor I to underfill a Mental Health Counselor II position. This position will work at the Child and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Response Team in Reno, Nevada. The Mobile Response Team receive and triage calls from families and the community, respond in teams to children and adolescents in the community presenting with a need or request for an immediate response. Responses can take place in emergency departments, schools, homes, and other community settings. Clinicians are responsible for completing a standardized assessment, providing support and immediate interventions, and create plans jointly with the youth and family to ensure the safety of the youth and to maintain them in their homes, schools and communities when able. Teams can remain in place for up to 45 days to provide intensive clinical and case management services to these youth and families. This position will be the clinical lead on the response and stabilization teams.
Mobile services are available during daytime, evening, and weekend hours. This recruitment is for all shifts that the Mobile Teams cover. This is a full-time position that will be located in Reno. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Applicants must either hold a clinical license in the State of Nevada as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor OR be in an internship at the time of hire OR enter an approved internship for licensure within 3 months of hire.
