Positions in this series supervise professional engineering associates, technical engineering staff, and/or engineering students; direct activities of assigned staff, organize personnel, equipment and materials, and delegate assignments; evaluate the performance of employees according to established policies and work performance standards; ensure accurate and timely completion of work assignments; and provide guidance and training.
Under general supervision, incumbents supervise technical engineering employees and perform engineering functions requiring analysis of diverse data and the exercise of judgement impacting daily operations and policy and procedure implementation. Duties result in a product or provide a service or recommendation used by others in making decisions.
This position is located in Elko, Construction Division within the Independent Assurance Lab. Incumbent performs supervisory duties which include implementation of daily operations and policy/procedure compliance; independent assurance audit testing with field crews, as required by Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); provides support and assistance in problem solving for Resident Engineers and field testing personnel, and verifies Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) policies and procedures are being followed by testing personnel. This position requires Nevada Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (NAQTC) or Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction (WAQTC) qualification and American Concrete Institute (ACI) certification within the first year. This position will also require up to 50% travel throughout the State, and working variable shifts and days (including weekends and holidays). In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR certified as an Engineering Intern and four years of subprofessional engineering experience; OR four years of experience at the Engineering Technician II level or above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

This position will require working variable shifts and days at the discretion of the appointing authority. |

Employees in this class who are not licensed professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.

The ability to travel at least 50% of the time is required. |
|

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
