The Position
Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.
This recruitment is for Social Worker 2 vacancies located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Adult Protective Services unit in Las Vegas, Nevada. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and promotes a positive work environment. The mission of the ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development, and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children, and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
Incumbents are responsible for investigating reports of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, exploitation, abandonment, and isolation of vulnerable adults 18-59 years of age and elders 60 and above. Through investigation, incumbents provide and/or arrange for services to alleviate and prevent further maltreatment while safeguarding individual civil liberties. Incumbents serve the community and long-term care facilities within the State of Nevada in the southern counties, including Clark, Nye, and Lincoln counties. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker or Associate in Social Work and one year of professional experience providing case management in a social work setting equivalent to a Social Worker I in Nevada State service.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Licensure or provisional licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
