In either a consultation or an enforcement mode, Industrial Hygienists identify, evaluate, and recommend controls for health hazards in the workplace through conducting inspections, investigations, surveys, research and analysis involving scientific disciplines such as chemistry, physics, engineering, epidemiology, toxicology, physiology, infection control, biomechanical and human factors engineering, and occupational health.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This is an Industrial Hygienist 3 position within Division of Industrial Relations/ Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) located in Las Vegas. Primary responsibilities include conducting consultation surveys, informal training, safety program development, and identifying and recommending solutions for complex safety and health hazards. The incumbent is also tasked with writing consultation reports, researching the federal and state regulations and effectively communicating items found and corrective actions to the client. This position also does IH sampling for chemical exposures in the workplace as well as noise monitoring. Additionally, this position will be assigned technical assistance days and will answer safety and health questions via phone, email or walk-ins.
