The Position
Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This recruitment is for a part-time Custodial Worker 2 vacancy at the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services, Desert Regional Center (DRC) Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) located in Las Vegas, NV. ADSD's mission is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
Incumbents in this position work 20.25 hours per week and are responsible for comprehensive cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing the Intermediate Care Facility homes and offices on the DRC campus. Duties include complete tile and carpet floor care; cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing bathrooms, showers, bathtubs, bedrooms, kitchens, living areas, laundry rooms and all hard surfaces; and cleaning all furniture and bed frames and equipment in homes and offices. This position is also responsible for trash disposal at the homes and grounds adjacent to all homes and buildings; window cleaning inside and out; cleaning toilets; moving furniture; setting up furniture and chairs for meetings; replacement of light bulbs and light tubes; minor repairs to plumbing fixtures and equipment; and other related duties as assigned. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
