The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services, Southern Nevada State Veterans Home (SNSVH) is recruiting for Maintenance Repair Specialist 2, located in Boulder City. Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, the Maintenance Repair Specialist 2 performs a range of general building and equipment maintenance at SNSVH. Duties include but are not limited to: installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of equipment at SNSVH that includes refrigerated commercial kitchen, central heating boiler, chiller, rooftop and electrical systems, plumbing, and other equipment in all areas and grounds of the facility; and ensuring all equipment is in a safe operating condition and conforms to codes and regulations. The incumbent also assists the Facilities Supervisor with facility management to include reviewing work completed by contractors for compliance with plans and specification; estimating costs, time, and materials for specific projects. This position may be tasked in planning, reviewing and evaluating the work of Maintenance Repair Specialist 1 staff. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Four years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades and one year of journey level experience which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR one year of journey level experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

This position may be subject to call back.
Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
This position requires HVAC experience.
EPA certification to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment is required.
