APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY -  $33,971.76 to  $49,151.52  PAY GRADE: 25

Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Grounds Equipment Operators operate a variety of gas and diesel powered equipment used for grounds maintenance and minor construction activities.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services, Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery is recruiting for two Grounds Equipment Operator 2 positions. These positions are located in Boulder City, Nevada and are required to perform semi-skilled equipment maintenance and repair, carpentry, electrical and plumbing work. Duties include operating a variety of equipment to perform burial site preparation, burials, landscaping duties, facilities repair and maintenance, and irrigation repair and maintenance. Equipment used include backhoes, compact excavator, dump truck, utility carts, casket lowering device, sod cutter, tamper, industrial riding lawn mower, blowers, trimmers, sprayers, and hand tools. The work schedule is M-F 7am - 3:30pm. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of ground maintenance experience which included operating and maintaining a variety of light, medium, and heavy grounds maintenance equipment; OR one year of experience as a Grounds Equipment Operator I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience operating a backhoe and mini excavator is required.
