The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents administer one or more programs or a major component of a large, complex program which affects a more targeted number of customers or clients; revise, recommend, and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements. This position is statewide within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Planning, Advocacy, and Community Services Unit (PAC) in Carson City or Las Vegas, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. The mission of ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's older adults, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This position will be responsible to conduct training and/or provide technical assistance for the Nevada Care Connection network; write, revise and/or recommend the implementation of procedural manuals or program documentation; document clientele needs assessment and program evaluation data as well as provide outreach and education to professionals, services providers, and Nevada communities. The incumbent will work with local agencies, state agencies, and community partners to strengthen the service delivery systems serving individuals across the lifespan including older adults, people with disabilities, and family caregivers. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment and one year of professional experience in planning, coordinating and administering a program which included interpretation of laws and regulations; development of program policy and procedures; development and implementation of program performance standards and objectives for providing services; and development and implementation of eligibility requirements; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Program Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint based background check as a condition of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
The Examination
