Criminal Investigators in the Attorney General's Investigations Division perform criminal investigations involving violations of federal and/or State laws pertaining to a specific program or regulatory area which includes, but is not limited to, Medicaid fraud, workers' compensation fraud, consumer protection, public integrity, human trafficking, missing children, financial fraud, alleged criminal offenses committed by State officers or employees, and all types of conflict of interest cases submitted by outside agencies, along with participating in multi-jurisdictional task forces comprised of officers from federal, State and local enforcement agencies.
The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) Deputy Chief Investigator will be required to function independently and fulfill a wide range of duties under the sole direction of the Director. The MFCU Deputy Chief Investigator will investigate: 1) Medicaid provider fraud; 2) abuse and neglect of patients in board and care facilities; 3) misappropriation of personal funds of patients in facilities receiving Medicaid funds; and 4) fraud within the administration of the Medicaid program. The MFCU Deputy Chief Investigator will conduct training programs and outreach regarding MFCU/AGO services and provide information to the public regarding the MFCU's function. The MFCU Deputy Chief Investigator will manage and coordinate with the Supervising Investigator(s) to plan, coordinate and execute enforcement details, type reports, organize and evaluate complaint referrals, provide guidance and assistance with investigations, review reports, monitor and approve leave, identify and arrange for training needs and track and arrange for equipment needs. The MFCU Deputy Chief Investigator will also communicate and coordinate with MFCU attorneys and assist the MFCU Director when necessary.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. Incumbents should also demonstrate a commitment to training other peace officers and have experience in drafting policies and procedures. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, police science, or closely related field; current, at a minimum, Category II POST certification in Nevada; and four years of criminal investigation and law enforcement experience involving standard investigative and enforcement techniques utilized to enforce local, State and/or federal laws and regulations. One year of the required experience must have included working in a supervisory capacity; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education; current, at a minimum, Category II POST certification in Nevada; and six years of criminal investigations and law enforcement experience involving standard investigative and enforcement techniques utilized to enforce State and federal laws. One year of the required experience must have included working in a supervisory capacity; OR one year of experience as an AG Criminal Investigator, Supervisor in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

Applicants must meet the minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) and Nevada Administrative Code (NAC). |
