Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Department of Taxation, Administrative Services Division in Carson City is recruiting for a Budget Analyst 1 position. This position will under-fill the Budget Analyst 2 position and may be progressed to the higher level at the recommendation of the supervisor and when the minimum qualifications of the higher level have been met. The incumbent will reconcile the budget status report, maintain budget tracking information, prepare internal and external budget reports, assist the Department's payroll section and review expenditure requests. The incumbent will act as the primary certified contract manager for the Department using Contract Entry and Tracing System (CETS), prepare work programs and the biennial budget request in the Nevada Executive Budget System (NEBS), and perform various fiscal functions. The position has a statewide travel requirement of up to 25% and requires a valid driver's license. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and two years of professional budgeting, economic or management analysis and projection, accounting, staff analyst, or auditing experience which included the identification of organizational problems and solutions, making recommendations regarding solutions and writing reports; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. |
