The Position
The Division of Public & Behavioral Health (DPBH) is recruiting for a Health/Human Services Professional Trainee within the Women, Infants, & Children Program (WIC) in Carson City, Nevada. This recruitment maybe used to underfill a Health Program Specialist 1 position. Advancement through the series may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. WIC provides an atmosphere of teamwork, friendly co-workers, and a positive work environment. This position will be primarily responsible for WIC program reviews, quality control, and policy and procedure development, review, and implementation. The selected candidate will acquire extensive knowledge of applicable Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), serve as a subject matter expert for WIC policies, procedures, and program reviews, and must be able to convey current and potential policy and procedural changes to WIC stakeholders and internal staff. Duties also include providing technical assistance and consultation in areas such as program administration, policy interpretation, and quality assurance to sub-granted agencies, clinics, and internal WIC staff; assisting with the development of training; and preparing the annual Nevada WIC State Plan and State and federal reports.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, early childhood development, psychology, public health, special education, nursing, or other discipline directly related to the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained. (NOTE: some jobs strictly require a bachelor's degree).

    A pre-employment criminal background and fingerprint check is required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
