Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is the program administrator for the Nevada Drinking Water Operator Certification program. This position supports the protection of public health by ensuring that all Operators at Public Water Systems are properly qualified, have passed an exam, have access to quality on-going training, and maintain proper levels of continuing education. The position also coordinates Technical Assistance and Capacity Development training and planning for the Bureau of Safe Drinking Water. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field and three years of professional environmental experience which involved environmental program research and planning; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of professional environmental experience as described above; OR one year of experience as an Environmental Scientist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

This position has a 25% travel requirement. |
|
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
