Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) is recruiting for a vacancy at the Central Office location within the Child
Care and Development unit in Carson City. The incumbent has statewide responsibility for conducting outreach and building
partnerships with other agencies, programs, and stakeholders and is also responsible for drafting and developing policies and
procedures and the oversight of policy implementation. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for developing agreements and
memorandums of understanding between the Division and other entities related to the program and ensuring program components
are executed and administered in compliance with Federal regulations, State laws, and Division goals and objectives. The position
will also require collaboration with the project management unit and system developers to create executive summaries and work
items, initiate automated system enhancements, and to assist with the testing and implementation of those enhancements. This
position reports directly to the program Chief. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required. |
