Administrative Services Officers function as business managers for a large division or major program area or facility, with responsibility for accounting, budgeting and business management of various services and operations.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located at the Central Administration Office in Carson City, Nevada.
Under general administrative directions, the Administrative Services Officer IV, serves as Chief of the Fiscal Services Division, for the Department of Corrections. Appointed by and reporting to the Deputy Director of Support Services, the Chief of Fiscal Services oversees the department's budget and accounting functions. This position has a high degree of authority to make and implement independent decisions without the supervisor's approval. The consequence of error is significant since the Chief of Fiscal Services will provide the highest level of administrative advice and support in critical areas of budget, fiscal management, department accounting, and business operations. This position will direct, supervise, oversee, and be responsible for the activities of supervisory staff within the budget and accounting areas of the Department. This position will travel to department correctional institutions and facilities, work with relevant employees located at correctional institutions, and occasionally work in proximity with inmates. This position will testify or assist with testimony at the Board of Prison Commissioners, the Committee on Industrial Programs, executive, legislative, and judicial committees, and other public forums, as needed. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business
administration, accounting, finance or a related field and seven years of professional experience in formulating, developing and analyzing agency budgets; fiscal management; and management of multiple business operations, two years of which were equivalent to an Administrative Services Officer III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |
