Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Master Information Technology (IT) Professionals provide the highest level of professional IT expertise in an agency in one or more functional areas such as information systems project management, quality assurance, database administration, network administration, systems administration, applications analysis and development, or information security.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Department of Administration, Enterprise IT Services is recruiting for a Master IT Professional 2 in Carson City. This position will be an integral member of the team responsible for providing Advanced Interactive Executive (AIX) and Unix support to multiple executive branch agencies requiring knowledge focused on Unix/AIX. Additionally, the position will be responsible for ongoing support and operational maintenance of the enterprise environment under little supervision.
The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting technical issues, working with critical production systems, and performing independent research to resolve enterprise-level technical issues. Good customer service skills are required, as well as the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with technical and non-technical personnel. The candidate will need to possess superior documentation skills, including the ability to train others, and the ability to function as a member in a collaborative team environment. This position will require some nights/weekends and holiday work shifts along with standby/call back notice and has a travel requirement of up to 25%. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and six years of progressively responsible professional IT experience, three years of which were at the advanced journey level in a pertinent specialty area such as information systems project management, quality assurance, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, or information security; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Statewide travel is required.
This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Professional certification from a nationally recognized/accredited organization, to be identified at the time of recruitment, is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
AIX, UNIX and IBM Hardware experience is required.
Applicants must have an advanced certification in AIX, Unix or IBM hardware at time of application.
