The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is based in Elko and the territory supported is Northern Nevada.
This position is responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining desktop PCs, laptops, PDA phones, mobile hand held devices, servers, network equipment, and peripherals across the entire state of Nevada. The position also monitors the network and assists with Help Desk user support and server operations. Extensive travel is likely when remote control tools or phone calls won't solve the problem. The incumbent will also be fixing PCs, monitoring networks, and providing customer service. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
This position requires certification in NCJIS/NCIC within 6 months of employment and recertification every 2 years for continued employment. Certification will be conducted by the Division.

This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
Statewide travel is required.
Working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience in troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, configuring, and installing computer software and hardware in an Enterprise environment is required.
Experience assisting staff in off-site locations using remote control software is required.
This position is located in Elko.
