The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in our Las Vegas Bureau of Disabilities Adjudication office. Under the oversight of the IT Manager, this position is responsible for, but not limited to, installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining desktop PCs, laptops, servers, network equipment, and peripherals for the Carson City & Las Vegas office locations. The position will help monitor the network and assist with Help Desk user support and server operations to both office locations. Incumbents may perform duties associated with one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency. Incumbents may participate in the development and revision of policies and procedures related to a functional area; maintain hardware, security, iSeries/Mainframe and tapes. Travel may be required for training and support to the Carson City office. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Some positions require an applicant to undergo a background investigation prior to appointment. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment.
Special Requirements
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel is required.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with Microsoft Operating System, including basic server and Active Directory Support.
