JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Under general supervision, Education and Information Officers research issues of concern to the agency and the
relevant target population; develop, coordinate and/or present educational programs; review, revise and monitor
courses of instruction to reflect current marketplace and applicable law; audit instructor presentations to ensure
quality instruction is provided in accordance with program requirements; facilitate communication among the
target population and State and federal agencies; develop media releases, newsletters and informational
brochures. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Department of Public Safety's Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) seeks an Administrator for the Motorcycle Safety Program in Carson City. The Administrator is responsible for guiding a coalition of stakeholders involved in developing strategies and action steps to improve motorcycle safety in the State. In addition, the Administrator will coordinate all program management, development, and activities involving motorcycle safety and training functions; is responsible to ensuring training facilities are adequately equipped and rider courses are conducted in accordance with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum and agency requirements; oversees the recruitment and training of instructors and the quality of instruction; coordinates public outreach; assists with contract preparation and management; develops policies and program regulations; and participates in the development of media campaigns and printed materials. The Administrator supervises a Program Assistant and contracted staff. This position requires the successful completion of a Nevada Rider Motorcycle Safety Program-Basic Rider Course within six months of employment. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an area of specialization relevant to the agency to which assigned and two years of professional experience which included responsibilities for researching, writing, instructing, and presenting informational and educational material; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
This position may require some evening and weekend work.
The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
Applicants must have held a motorcycle endorsement for a minimum of two (2) years.
Applicants must not have more than two (2) Driver's License demerit points in the past two (2) years.
Applicants must not have any suspensions or revocations of Driver's License within the past two (2) years.
This position requires a valid driver's license at time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
