The Position
Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) whose mission is to protect, promote, and improve the physical and behavioral health of the people of Nevada is recruiting for a part time Psychiatric Nurse 2 in Battle Mountain, Lovelock, or Tonopah, Nevada. The position location will be determined based upon the applicant selected. Rural Clinics provides an array of outpatient behavioral health services for both adults and children throughout rural Nevada with 16 clinics across 12 counties. Services are generally provided Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Services assist individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and recovery. Any position that requires licensure to provide clinical services must be maintained, without lapses and be in good standing with subsequent boards. This position provides direct psychiatric nursing services for consumers including assessments and therapeutic interventions; organizes and oversees medication services including tele-medication services for prescribers; provides client and family education on medications and health related issues; monitors effectiveness of treatment and side effects; and provides consultation and education to consumers, the community, and other service providers. This clinic has been designated as a loan repayment site through the National Health Services Corps (NHSC), a program of the Health Research and Services Administration (HRSA).

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR one year of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.
    Out of state applicants must have a temporary license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing at the time of appointment and must obtain permanent licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This recruitment will be used to fill a position in Battle Mountain, Lovelock, or Tonopah. The position location will be determined based upon the applicant selected.
    This recruitment will be used to fill a part time position (75%).
