The Position
Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Department of Education is recruiting for a Budget Analyst 2 in the Carson City office. Duties include, but are not limited to, preparing work programs with supporting documentation; preparing fiscal year end closing documents, ensuring that remaining funds are distributed according to statutory requirements; responding to program inquiries in a timely manner; assisting programs with strategic planning processes and analysis; analyzing assigned budget accounts weekly for accuracy and prepare draws to meet funding needs; coordinate and participate in the development and preparation of biennial budgets, ensuring that budgets and all supporting documentation are submitted by required deadlines assuring compliance with statutory regulations and policies; complete draws for funding according to federal guidelines as applicable; complete assigned year-end Single Audit Report Forms (SARF); reconcile or verify reconciliation of all grants on an annual or as needed basis; complete special projects within assigned timeframes. The incumbent is required to hold a valid driver's license for state travel up to 25%. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and three years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting will be required of the selected applicant.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
