The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Unemployment Insurance Representatives perform a broad variety of activities related to the timely and accurate processing and payment of unemployment insurance benefit claims.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This recruitment will be used to fill both permanent and intermittent vacancies within the Benefits Accuracy Measurement Unit of the Employment Security Division at the Department of Employment Training and Rehabilitation located Las Vegas. This position is responsible for conducting investigations and independent audits of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) claims process, determining the accuracy of paid and denied claims in the program from samples of weekly payments and denied claims. For claims that were overpaid, underpaid, or improperly denied, incumbent will determine the cause of and the party responsible for the error, the point in the UI claims process at which the error was detected, and actions taken by the agency and employers prior to the error. The incumbent will be responsible for determining the amount of benefits the claimant should have received, and in correcting, data analysis and tracking solutions to these problems. This position may be required to work weekends or hours outside of the traditional 8:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of unemployment insurance experience, one year of which included claims adjudication experience gathering information and conducting fact-finding interviews to identify and resolve unemployment insurance issues; and interpreting and applying State and federal laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures and using complex database software systems to record and process unemployment insurance benefit claims information; OR one year of experience as an Unemployment Insurance Representative III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Up to two years of experience may be substituted by completion of 60 semester credits in social or behavioral science, business administration, or related field for Unemployment Insurance Representative IV and V.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience processing unemployment claims is required.
