The Position
Workforce Services Representatives provide a broad range of services in accordance with the Workforce Investment Act; assist job seeking customers and business customers seeking qualified applicants; and provide priority employment services to eligible veterans and disabled veterans as defined by the Department of Labor.
This position provides priority employment services to eligible veterans and disabled veterans through the Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) within the JobConnect offices in Fallon and rural areas 50% of the time and the other 50% provides services to non-veterans as a Workforce Services Representative. The area of coverage includes Winnemucca, Lovelock, Fernley, Silver Springs, Yerington, Hawthorne, Schurz, and on occasion as far as Battle Mountain Travel requirement will be as much as 25% with possible overnight stays when traveling to Winnemucca. The incumbent will be required on occasion to travel out of state for Veterans Training and conferences as allowed. The incumbent will provide assistance to Veteran customers with Significant Barriers to Employment, Veterans with Non-SBE, and Non-Veteran clients, services include: proficiency and skills testing; vocational guidance; job search planning; workshop enrollment; resume writing; reemployment eligibility assessments; referrals to agencies to secure housing, referrals to medical services; assistance with obtaining high school equivalency certifications; assistance in obtaining certifications and work related items needed for securing employment; and assistance with short-term vocational and academic training.
Once trained the incumbent will also be part of the Prison Outreach program and Re-Entry Program. This position is an underfill of a Workforce Services Representative 3 position and will progress to this level upon meeting eligibility requirements. This position may be required to work weekends or hours outside of the traditional 8:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule.YOU MUST BE A MILITARY VETERAN TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience which included providing services to customers; reading and applying written policies, procedures, or instructions; operating personal computers to enter and retrieve data; and interviewing individuals to gather information; OR a Bachelors degree in social or behavioral science, business administration, or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    Preference shall be given in the appointment of Disabled Veterans Outreach Program positions to qualified disabled veterans. If the appointing authority finds that no qualified disabled veteran is available for appointment, appointment may be given to any qualified veteran.
Special Requirements
    Some positions require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Some positions require verification of an honorable discharge from the U.S. military service.
Additional Position Criteria
    You must be a military veteran to apply for this position. A copy of your DD214 and/or disability rating showing an honorable discharge MUST be attached to your application or your application will be denied.
