Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Helpdesk Technicians provide support to end users on a variety of issues. Incumbent will identify, research, and resolve technical problems; respond to telephone calls, emails and personnel requests for technical support; document, track, and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution. The candidate chosen will be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures; rely on experience and judgment to prioritize, plan and accomplish tasks; perform a variety of complicated tasks; walk customers through computer issues, either in-person, remotely via phone, or using remote access tools; and submit and monitor jobs via an enterprise job scheduler.
This position may assist higher level IT technicians or professionals in the deployment of new equipment and software throughout the agency. This position may assist in other troubleshooting and support activities with network and server teams as required. Occasional travel to other agency worksites is required. Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
