The Position
Accountants are responsible for preparing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Governor's Finance Office, Office of Project Management, in Carson City, NV is seeking two Accountant 3 positions. The incumbent will serve either as the Fixed Assets Module lead or Cash and Treasury Module lead on the SMART21 Project. The duties will be to manage the work stream and requirements scope, and will plan, organize, train and oversee project functions as it relates to AR. Additionally, the incumbent will identify agency subject matter experts (SME's), map current fiscal process to the new system, and assist SME's to revise fiscal management policies, procedures and internal controls in order to comply with legal requirements, state regulations, etc. The incumbent will serve for the duration of the project or until there is no longer work to be performed in this capacity. This project is currently expected to be three years to four years. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting and two years of experience performing professional accounting work; OR a Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or closely related field which included 18 credits in accounting; and three years of experience performing professional accounting work; OR one year as an Accountant II in Nevada State service and 18 college credits in accounting.
Special Notes
    The required 18 college credits in accounting must include 6 credits of beginning accounting, 6 credits of intermediate accounting, and 6 credits of upper-division accounting courses.
