Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Bureau of Safe Drinking Water is currently recruiting for a Supervisor, Professional Engineer to oversee the Public Water System (PWS) Compliance Branch. The successful candidate shall be able to demonstrate working knowledge of: 1) Nevada Statutes and Regulations pertaining to Public Water System, the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), and 40 Code Federal Regulations 141; 2) engineering design/design review with respect to water and/or wastewater infrastructure; and 3) Drafting legally defensible documents to communicate regulatory requirements. This compliance program position supervises both Environmental Scientists and Staff Engineers in overall SDWA compliance requirements as well as Engineering work performed by Branch Engineers. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and one year of experience performing professional engineering work; OR one year of experience as a Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR current licensure as a Professional Engineer and an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

An incumbent registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment.

The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
|
|
Persons appointed to this class on or after July 1, 1995, must be licensed as a Professional engineer in the State of Nevada; persons appointed prior to that date who are not licensed may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. |

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
