The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located in Carson City. The incumbent will prepare work programs with supporting documentation on an as needed basis; prepare fiscal year end closing documents, ensuring that remaining funds are distributed according to statutory requirements; respond to program inquiries in a timely manner; assist programs with strategic planning processes and analysis; and analyze assigned budget accounts weekly for accuracy and prepare draws to meet funding needs as needed.
The incumbent will also coordinate, participate in development and preparation of biennial budgets, ensuring that budgets and all supporting documentation are submitted by required deadlines assuring compliance with statutory regulations and policies; complete draws for funding according to federal guidelines, if applicable; complete assigned year-end Single Audit Report Forms (SARF); reconcile or verify reconciliation of all grants on an annual or as needed basis; and complete special projects within assigned timeframes. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and three years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
