Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
The Investigations Division (NDI) of the Department of Public Safety is recruiting to fill positions that serve as communication specialists within the SafeVoice Support Center. SafeVoice is a school safety program operated jointly by the Nevada Department of Education and the Nevada Department of Public Safety, Investigations Division. SafeVoice operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and allows any person to anonymously and/or confidentially report any dangerous, violent or unlawful activities, or the threat of such activities, conducted on school property, at an activity sponsored by a public school or on a school bus of a public school.
Communication Specialists/Administrative Assistant 3s receive, analyze, and disseminate information received by the SafeVoice program to the appropriate state and local authorities to ensure appropriate response, intervention, care and/or resolution. These positions require rotational shift work (days, swing, and graveyard) and incumbents must pass the NCIC certification examination within six months of appointment and every two years thereafter as a condition of continuing employment. MANDATORY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Candidates must bring a typing certificate with them to the informational seminar. Failure to do so will withdraw you from consideration. The typing certificate must have been issued within the last 6 months and verify your NET typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. The certificate must contain the company name, phone number, and signature. NO ONLINE TYPING TESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. This typing certificate may be obtained through any Job Connect office, Community Colleges, Manpower, or other staffing agencies. Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

The incumbent is required to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
