The Position
Family Support Workers provide in-home assistance and instruction to clients and their families regarding homemaking skills including preparation of healthy and nutritious meals, and basic personal care and hygiene as necessary for the health and well-being of the client and other members of the household.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for Family Support Worker in Elko. Family Support Workers assist in planning daily routines for family members including work and play activities to establish a responsible, balanced and orderly family living environment; observe and identify abnormal behavior, safety risks, neglect or abuse within the family unit and report observations to supervisor; works with social service personnel in referring clients to appropriate agencies for assistance and completes necessary referral forms for services; transports children to doctor appointments or parents to court as requested; and documents services provided to clients and prepares reports. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of family support experience including homemaking, and providing care to children and/or the ill, disabled and aged; OR one year of experience as a Family Support Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

    This position is located in Elko.
