The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Purchasing Technicians perform technical and clerical duties in support of professional staff in the purchasing division of a large department, college or university.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This is a Purchasing Technician 2 position with the Department of Administration, Purchasing Division located in Carson City. This position is responsible for preparing and processing documents for the purchase, issuance and transfer of goods; and will issue, modify and monitor purchase orders and maintain records for the procurement of a wide variety of property, equipment, services, food, parts, materials and supplies. This position requires proficiency in the State's Financial System, Advantage, as well as Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. In following with the Department of Administration's mission of providing exceptional customer service, this position requires a high degree of customer service skill and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally inside and outside the organization. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of clerical experience which included one year of technical purchasing experience in applying standard policies and procedures to prepare and process requisitions, purchasing orders and invoices; interacting with vendors; and using computerized recordkeeping systems related to procurement, contract maintenance and purchase order tracking; OR one year of experience as a Purchasing Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
