Positions manage the inmate work program at one or more correctional facilities and are responsible for budget maintenance, project planning, community relations, resource management, security planning, and supervision of assigned personnel.

Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The Nevada Division of Forestry's (NDF) mission is to provide professional natural resource and wildland fire management services to enhance, conserve and protect forest, rangeland and watershed values, endangered plants and other native flora. The Division of Forestry has a unique partnership with the Department of Corrections to train and provide labor skills in natural resource and wildland fire management to minimum security inmates to provide professional job skills for rehabilitation and to reduce recidivism. The Conservation Camp Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the assigned Conservation Camp under their supervision works to fulfill NDF's mission. This position administers daily camp operations and provides direct supervision to Conservation Crew Supervisors employed at the camp; prepares camp budgets and monitors camp expenditures; and reports directly to the Conservation Camp Area Supervisor. The Conservation Camp Supervisor ensures their camp is meeting implementation targets through providing leadership and direction, monitoring camp performance and producing reports documenting camp output. This position visits project sites to develop estimates of resources and time required to complete projects, establishes agreements with cooperators for project implementation, and coordinates scheduling of crews for natural resource projects.

The Conservation Camp Supervisor coordinates the response and movement of their conservation crews within and outside the state to meet the demand for wildland fire assignments and specialized training needs; serves as the liaison with the Department of Corrections officials, staffing the camp appropriately to accomplish assigned work year-round, resolving operational issues and ensure the missions of both agencies are being met; and is responsible for hiring and training all crew supervisors at the camp under their oversight as well as ordering equipment and supplies to ensure the camp is fully staffed with qualified employees that are fully equipped to meet the agencies mission. The position is responsible for fostering good communication within all program areas of the Division, as well as with partners and cooperators outside the agency. This position provides clear direction and expectations to subordinate staff regarding daily work assignments, and the importance of the Camp Program in the overall accomplishment of the agency mission.
