The Position
Facility Supervisors/Managers plan, organize and direct buildings and grounds maintenance, repair, custodial work, security functions, and fleet maintenance and supervise skilled and semi-skilled staff.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Facility Supervisor 2 at Summit View Youth Center (SVYC), a 96-bed secure facility for male youth located in North Las Vegas, NV. SVYC's goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking. Under general supervision, incumbents are working supervisors who perform all or part of the duties listed in the series concept and supervise skilled trades workers and semi-skilled workers engaged in routine facility maintenance, repair and cleaning such as installing electrical outlets, painting worn surfaces, replacing plumbing fixtures, installing partitions in existing office space and performing routine maintenance and repairs on the facility's heating and air conditioning systems.
Positions in this class are characterized by supervising at least one employee performing skilled trade work equivalent to Maintenance Repair Specialist I in addition to a small crew of semi-skilled workers. This is a full-time position 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime after 40 hours per week. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of building and facilities maintenance or construction experience which must have included project planning, preparation of job/project cost estimates, scheduling and project management, one year of which was at a supervisory level; OR one year of experience as a Facility Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
The Examination

FACILITY SUPERVISOR 2 (09.609) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

1) Describe in detail, your supervisory experience, including the number of years, with the following trade workers: 1) Carpenters, 2) Electricians, 3) Plumbers, 4) HVAC, 5) Commercial Refrigeration Mechanics, 6) Boiler Makers.
2) Describe your experience, including the number of years, establishing maintenance schedules and performing preventative maintenance for a large commercial facility (i.e., hospital, casino, manufacturing, office or apartment complex/high rise) in the following trades: 1) HVAC, 2) Refrigeration, 3) Back up power supplies, 4) Light vehicles and equipment, 5) Electrical control systems, 6) Plumbing, 7) Painting, 8) Grounds Maintenance.
3) Describe your experience, including the number of years, estimating time, material and equipment costs for building projects and future maintenance needs for a large commercial facility.
4) Describe your experience, including the number of years, in hazardous material control including receiving, inventorying, record keeping and disposal.
5) Describe your experience, including the number of years, in the following: a) preparing written plans and specifications for building projects and b) interpreting blueprints and schematic drawings.
6) Describe your experience, including the number of years, preparing work orders and reports for completed work.
7) Describe your experience, including the number of years, preparing and maintaining a maintenance budget for a large commercial facility.
