The Position
Personnel Analysts are responsible for performing comprehensive personnel functions for a state department, division or agency. Work may involve employee relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee development, benefit administration, staffing and payroll.
This is the advanced journey level in the series. This position is located within the Division of Human Resource Management; Compensation, Classification & Recruitment Section; Classification Unit, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Under general direction of a Supervisory Personnel Analyst, the position performs duties related to classification assignments which include conducting job evaluations and comparative analyses of individual classified positions. The position will be responsible for recommending determinations, conducting class specification reviews and maintenance review studies, and creating new class specifications. Duties also include, but are not limited to, coordinating and conducting interviews with State employees and subject matter experts, determining classifications utilizing a broad spectrum of occupational groups and classifications, preparing written analyses, presenting decisions to incumbents and agency personnel, defending decisions before governing bodies, and other duties as assigned. This position will also perform duties related to recruitment to include the analysis of job applications and the determination of employment eligibility. In addition, this position may assist the State EEO and Discrimination Unit to investigate and address complaints. A writing skills assessment regarding position analysis and determination will be conducted as part of the interview process. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    This position may require up to 25% travel.
    This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
