The Position
Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.
This position is located within the Adult Protective Services program of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) in Reno. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and is a great place to work! Our mission is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development, and delivery of a high quality comprehensive support service system to allow all of Nevada's elders, children, and adults with disabilities or special health care needs to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. Thank you for your interest in the Nevada Department of Health & Human Services. Due to continued concerns surrounding COVID-19, one of the proactive steps the State has taken at this time is to limit the hiring of current and future vacant positions. This includes positions that are currently open and in the recruitment process. Your application will be reviewed and will be available to hiring authorities after the temporary freeze has been lifted.
The selected candidate will perform investigations in local communities and long-term care facilities throughout northern Nevada counties to include including Washoe, Lyon, Churchill, Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Mineral, and Pershing; complete reports on assigned cases of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, exploitation, abandonment, and isolation of vulnerable adults (18-59 years of age) and elders 60 and above; and provide or arrange for services to alleviate and prevent further maltreatment while safeguarding their civil liberties. Nevada offers sunshine and recreational opportunities abound including golfing, biking, off-roading, hiking, skiing, and fishing. Nevada's beautiful landscape and thriving economy are just a few of the reasons to join the Silver State's workforce! Additional benefits include medical, dental, life and disability insurance programs; participation in the public employees' retirement plan; 11 paid holidays each year; and accrual of 3 weeks of annual leave and 3 weeks of sick leave each year. The State of Nevada is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action in recruitment of its employees and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion or belief, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, domestic partnership, genetic information (GINA), or compensation and/or wages. **THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.
