The Position
Under administrative direction of the Division Administrator, incumbents are responsible and accountable for planning, organizing, coordinating and managing program support of a major organizational component of the Employment Security or Rehabilitation Divisions within the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), and oversee the management of programs to ensure the timely, accurate, consistent, and effective delivery of services to clients through local offices and regional centers. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives. The Rehabilitation Division's Deputy Administrator of Programs position provides oversight, planning and relationship building of unique initiatives within the Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program that result in improved service delivery to Nevadans with disabilities seeking employment. This position has programmatic oversight for the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Bureau of Services to Persons who are Blind or Visually Impaired. It is the main point of contact for programmatic partners such as Nevada's Department of Education, Aging and Disability Services Division, Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, statewide Regional Centers, community rehabilitation programs, and Section 121 Native American VR agencies.
The Deputy shares information and provides training to these partners, as well as working collaboratively with them to create unique programs of service delivery that meet the needs of joint clients. This position ensures service delivery to VR clients is compliant with state and federal law and program policy and procedures, and is delivered efficiently and timely. The Deputy has oversight of the quality control functions of VR, and direct oversight and planning of the delivery of Pre-Employment Transition Services to students with disabilities, in coordination with local school districts. The Deputy is involved in strategic planning efforts for VR, and evaluates the effectiveness of strategies and processes to ensure and improve outcomes for Nevadans with disabilities. This position will be located in Carson City or Las Vegas, depending on the candidate chosen. The State of Nevada is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action in recruitment of its employees and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion or belief, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, domestic partnership, genetic information (GINA), or compensation and/or wages. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.
