The Position
Quality Control Specialists review sample casework of public assistance, child support enforcement, disability adjudication/fraud, or vocational rehabilitation programs to determine compliance with State and federal laws, regulations, policies and procedures; identify errors and causal factors; investigate and verify case facts and information; and recommend corrective action or compile data for required reports.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position will be located in either Carson City or Las Vegas, depending on the candidate chosen. Incumbents in this position function under general supervision as a program policy expert who applies the Social Security policies to evaluate the quality of submitted work by Disability Adjudicators through casework sampling. Tasks include identification of errors, detailed technical guidance and feedback, and correction action and direction steps regarding the policy application and training for Disability Adjudicators and medical consultants. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience eliciting information regarding services for disability insurance and/or eligibility for disability insurance including making determinations based on the application of rules and regulations, verifying and analyzing information, and documenting facts pertinent to the program, one year of which was at the journey level and included reviewing the work of others; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience eliciting information regarding services for vocational rehabilitation and/or eligibility for vocational rehabilitation including case management techniques, vocational rehabilitation counseling practices, making determinations based on the application of rules and regulations, verifying and analyzing information, and documenting facts pertinent to the program; OR one year of experience as a Disability Adjudicator III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
