Certified Nursing Assistants perform basic restorative services and basic nursing services related to the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patient rights.
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services, Southern Nevada State Veterans Home (SNSVH) is recruiting for a Certified Nursing Assistant 3, Lead Certified Nursing Assistant. The position is geographically located in Boulder City, Nevada. At the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, incumbents perform the duties described in the series concept and function as a lead worker. Incumbents provide mentoring & training to newly hired Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) as well as Nursing Assistant Trainees (NAT), which includes familiarizing staff with direct-care protocols, demonstrating how to implement specific treatment procedures, and reporting observations made during shifts to a charge nurse. The incumbent may be asked to provide input on performance evaluations of lower level CNAs and NATs, and act as a liaison between CNAs/NATs and the charge nurse or nurse manager. The Lead CNA may be assigned other duties by the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse that may include oversight & assistance to agency CNAs and CNA students.
The Lead CNA, under the direction of the Nurse Manager, will conduct various audits to assure compliance with policy and regulations. This position is also responsible for the assignment of staff to cover the Veterans Home workload. Incumbents may be assigned to float to all neighborhoods of the Veterans Home. SNSVH is a 24-hour facility, therefore shift work maybe required. To succeed in this position, the incumbent requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent organizational, and time management skills, ability to multi-task and be adaptable. The incumbent will be monitored for punctuality and good attendance. Computer skills and experience in training preferred. Nursing Assistant and CPR (BLS) certification information must be listed under the Professional License/Certification section of your application in order to be considered. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant by the Nevada State Board of Nursing and 18 months of experience performing work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in an institutional setting; OR 18 months as a Certified Nursing Assistant II in Nevada State service. |

Some positions require current CPR certification at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
