The Position
Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.
The Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Social Worker 1. The incumbent provides child welfare services to children and families in the Elko area. Duties include, but are not limited to conducting assessments of families throughout the life of assigned cases at SAFE Model specific times; assessing on-going safety threats; delivering strength-based family-centered case management services that promote the safety, well-being, and permanency of children; ensuring children have their medical, mental health, and educational needs met; ensuring case plans are developed and reviewed in accordance with policy and practice guidelines; documenting assessments, child and family team meetings, monthly caseworker visits, preparation of court reports, social summaries, diligent search efforts, and completion of termination of parental rights (TPR) packets. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This recruitment may be used to underfill a Social Worker 3. The selected candidate may move to the next level of the series after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and approval of the appointing authority. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker or Associate in Social Work.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required by the Division of Child and Family Services.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    The Division of Child and Family Services requires this position to be subject to on-call.
    Licensure or provisional licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This is a full-time position that may be scheduled to work a shift other than Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm. This position also includes a variable work agreement to receive overtime after 40 hours in a week.
    This position is located in Elko.
