The Position
Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.
This position is located within the Community Based Care Program of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) in Las Vegas, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. Our mission is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development, and delivery of a high quality comprehensive support service system to allow all of Nevada's elders, children, and adults with disabilities or special health care needs to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. This recruitment may be used to underfill a Social Worker 2 position. The incumbent may progress to the next level after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and approval of the appointing authority. Due to continued concerns surrounding COVID-19, one of the proactive steps the State has taken at this time is to limit the hiring of current and future vacant positions. This includes positions that are currently open and in the recruitment process. Your application will be reviewed and will be available to hiring authorities after the temporary freeze has been lifted.
The selected candidate will ensure a coordinated support system that meets the needs of at-risk elderly and disabled persons by providing case management and essential services to recipients to facilitate community integration and avoid institutionalization. Responsibilities include case management; assessment and eligibility determination; development, implementation, and oversight of the plan of care; home visits; and documentation utilizing a web-based case management software system. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. Nevada offers sunshine and recreational opportunities abound including golfing, biking, off-roading, hiking, skiing, and fishing. Nevada's beautiful landscape and thriving economy are just a few of the reasons to join the Silver State workforce! Additional benefits include medical, dental, life and disability insurance programs; participation in the public employees retirement plan; 11 paid holidays each year; and accrual of 3 weeks of annual leave and 3 weeks of sick leave each year. The State of Nevada is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action in recruitment of its employees and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion or belief, age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, domestic partnership, genetic information (GINA), or compensation and/or wages. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.
