Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in Las Vegas within the Permits Division. This is a night time field inspector and will be required to work Sunday through Thursday, 9 PM to 5:30 AM. The incumbent will be responsible for engineering functions requiring analysis of diverse data, exercising judgment impacting daily operations and policy procedure implementation. Duties include field inspection; reviewing plans and maintaining documentation to ensure permitted work is in compliance with policies and standards; reviewing and processing permit applications; designing and administrations of district contracts; special projects; review of temporary traffic control; preparation of technical engineering memoranda and letters; regular site reviews and implementation of field changes as required; providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers and responding to public inquiries including, media, citizen, and interagency inquiries. This position also requires the ability to process encroachment permits and document the progress of permitted activates and pertinent information, review permit conditions, plans, special provisions and amendments to ensure proper construction and adequate compliance with applicable standards. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
