The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist 3 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Behavioral Health unit, in Carson City. The applicant will monitor integrated community medical and behavioral health clinic models to ensure the providers are operating effectively, efficiently and in compliance with State, Federal and contract requirements. The duties will include create, compile, prepare and submit required reports, budgets, white papers and presentations to ensure all program requirements are met. The candidate will provide ongoing assistance, instruction and technical support to behavioral health providers, recipients, and all agency staff. The successful candidate will collaborate with the supervisor, DHCFP, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and other agency staff to review, write, and revise program policy, manuals, issue written or oral directives and correspondence.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    This position requires 25% travel statewide.
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience implementing behavioral health policies and procedures is required.
