Accountants are responsible for preparing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the Business & Industry, Housing Division in Carson City. Under the direction of the Chief Accountant, the Accountant II will prepare financial information and notices of the occurrence of bonds outstanding, maturity dates, call histories, reserve requirements and balances; mortgage loan portfolio information including principal amount of originated loan and communicate this information to National Repositories. The Accountant II will also assist Accountant III on input of journal entries into Great Plains accounting system; reconcile cash receipts of loan payments from financial institutions and provide loan payoff information; and analyze and reconcile mortgage clearing account. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting and one year of experience performing professional accounting work; OR a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or related field which included 18 credits in accounting and two years of experience performing professional accounting work; OR one year of experience as an Accountant I in Nevada State service and 18 college credits in accounting.
Special Notes
The required 18 college credits in accounting must include 6 credits of beginning accounting, 6 credits of intermediate accounting, and 6 credits of upper-division accounting courses.
