The Position
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Under general supervision, Grounds Maintenance Workers perform a wide variety of landscape and garden duties such as irrigation system maintenance, planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, and weeding of lawn and planter areas. Incumbents operate hand and power tools, light equipment such as power mowers, edgers and blowers in the upkeep and beautification of the NDOT HQ Complex and associated properties. This position will also be required to perform snow removal for building entrances and surrounding sidewalks. ***Please ensure your application reflects at least six months of full time equivalent (FTE) grounds maintenance work experience.*** Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Six months of experience performing basic grounds maintenance work; OR six months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
