The Position
Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and consultant contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located within District III, Elko, NV. Incumbent functions as a professional engineer manager and is responsible for maintaining and managing a construction field office and field laboratory, including records and files for documentation of contract progress, specifications, compliance, correspondence, and all other source documents; plans, directs all aspects of contract administration, includes: directing changes in contract plans and specifications; preparing bi-weekly progress estimates; monitoring contractor's work and determining compliance with contractual requirements; coordinating project activities between contractor's personnel, staff personnel, district and other division staff; ensuring project safety. This position oversees the planning, organizing, and directing of professional and technical employees engaged in surveying, inspections, office procedures, and testing of materials; maintain meetings with staff to review project status; maintaining vehicle, equipment, and supply inventories through coordination with the District. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and two years of experience performing professional engineering work in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Supervisor, Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and two years of experience as a Staff II or Supervisor II, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment.
