JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Lab Services Section of the Materials Division in Carson City. Incumbent is responsible for calibration of material testing equipment to the current specification, development of calibration records for the Construction Division's field and progress labs in order to conform to federal regulations, and preparation and maintenance of equipment verification reports; administration of the Material's Division Safety and Chemical Hygiene program to include maintenance of the Safety and Chemical Hygiene Manual, performing safety training for new and current employees, performing or directing inspections, and communicating with regulatory agencies; and managing hazardous waste generated in the lab. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
