Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located at Northern Nevada Correction Center (NNCC) in Carson City. The Maintenance Repair Worker IV performs a variety of general maintenance building repairs and projects. The skills required are basic plumbing skills to include repair and installation of plumbing systems and fixtures; basic carpentry work to include patching walls, framing, sheetrock, floor tile replacement; basic painting skills for interior and exterior walls; basic electrical work including installing fixtures, testing components; basic automotive repair and maintenance skills; basic welding and machine work; basic lock repair, order materials and supplies as well as maintaining detailed records; be able to be certified to operate man lifts and forklifts. This position acts as lead for an inmate crew for various jobs such as painting. Three years of experience performing higher level semi-skilled work in a relevant building and/or mechanical trades such as troubleshooting a wide variety of lighting fixtures and problems; framing and sheetrocking walls to create new office spaces and installing door jambs, windows, and necessary wiring; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A valid Class A Nevada commercial driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
