The Position
Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located at Northern Nevada Correction Center (NNCC) in Carson City. The Maintenance Repair Worker IV performs a variety of general maintenance building repairs and projects. The skills required are basic plumbing skills to include repair and installation of plumbing systems and fixtures; basic carpentry work to include patching walls, framing, sheetrock, floor tile replacement; basic painting skills for interior and exterior walls; basic electrical work including installing fixtures, testing components; basic automotive repair and maintenance skills; basic welding and machine work; basic lock repair, order materials and supplies as well as maintaining detailed records; be able to be certified to operate man lifts and forklifts. This position acts as lead for an inmate crew for various jobs such as painting. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Three years of experience performing higher level semi-skilled work in a relevant building and/or mechanical trades such as troubleshooting a wide variety of lighting fixtures and problems; framing and sheetrocking walls to create new office spaces and installing door jambs, windows, and necessary wiring; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid Class A Nevada commercial driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Positions in the Department of Corrections are subject to call-back after hours and call-out on weekends and holidays.
